celebrated the anticipation of our new facility in
Columbus by having a construction theme.
Over 68 vendors participated in our event. The day was filled with educational seminars, door prizes, games
and good food.

Acorn hosted its first ‘Acorn University’ session for
customers on Thursday, February 24, 2017 in
Columbus, Ohio. Attendees received a Cleaning
Technician Certification from IvyTech Community
College once they completed the day of training and
hands-on sessions. The program covered bloodborne pathogen spills, chemical safety, proper restroom cleaning and floor care techniques. Acorn is going to expand the program to include different levels of management and plans to offer Acorn University to its Indiana customers. All of this was made possible by our corporate sponsor Clorox, thank you.

This year, Acorn celebrated its 40th Anniversary with customers at
the annual tradeshow in Indianapolis. The day was filled with fun,
food, entertainment and educational sessions.
There were over 65 vendors that donated almost $5,000 in door prizes.
The 4-0 TP Toss was a big hit; an Evansville customer was the lucky
recipient of the mini-iPad. Plus the winner of our Facebook "Selfie
Giveaway' received $100.

NEW BOARD MEMBER ELECTED

On March 20th Jennifer Rosenberg, President of Acorn was elected to serve on the Board of Directors for NETWORK®. Jennifer is one of three women that have served on the board over the past 40 years. She was nominated by her peers due to her passion for the business as well as her reputation as a leader and experienced sales professional.

Every year, Acorn hosts a tradeshow where our customers and vendors have a forum to interact. Customers that attend receive special offers, entertainment, and door prizes.
This year vendor participants donated over $2,000 in prizes and gift cards. Door prizes were announced every

MID-OHIO FOODBANK DONATION

Acorn Distributors proudly supports the communities it serves by donating time, money, and products. Last week, the company donated over $20,000 in needed product to the Mid-Ohio Foodbank. Items included foam carryout containers, plastic containers, cups, bakery boxes, paper towels, tissue dispensers, and cleaning supplies. In addition, Acorn employees have been active volunteers for years.
Mid-Ohio Foodbank works with community partners to assist 625 food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, after-school programs, and senior housing sites across central and eastern Ohio.

On October 14, 2014, Acorn hosted its 6th Annual Tradeshow where customers and vendors interacted while enjoying good food and exciting door prizes. Attendees also received special discounts from participating vendors. We are actively planning our 2015 show which will be held in Columbus, Ohio. One-On-One with Jennifer Rosenberg
Succession planning is a difficult endeavor for any company owner. Therefore, it’s often procrastinated and avoided. Not only does succession planning have the capacity to cause a business to fail, but if not done properly, it can also tear apart the family who owns the business. But if passing down the torch to the next in line is well thought out and planned, business should keep functioning without any major hiccups.
In the case of Indianapolis-based Acorn Distributors Inc., succession planning has been top-of-mind since Al Wachter became sole owner of the company in 1999. After convincing his daughter, Jennifer Rosenberg, to come back home and work for him, he’s made it a goal to pass down the knowledge and know-how of running the business. But Rosenberg didn’t start out right away in management. She worked her way up through the ranks with the company starting as a salesperson until she officially took over as president in 2005, when she purchased 52 percent of Acorn.
Today, Rosenberg runs Acorn with the values instilled in her from her father and has crafted her own management style along the way. Putting her employees first and creating a positive, fun work environment, she is setting her distributorship up for success for many years. And who’s to say she won’t pass down the family business to one of her three children.

Acorn Distributors President Jennifer Rosenberg is not just another heir to a throne.
The 38-year-old Carmel resident went out of her way to prove herself in the family business: providing janitorial and foodservice supplies.
She started from the ground up in 1999, building her own contacts and creating her own sales territory. Rosenberg beat the streets, proving her credibility.
